Relax on board the train as we watch the boats on the lake & enjoy the scenery as we travel roundtrip from Meredith, NH. We will make a NH Liquor Store stop prior to boarding the train. Hart’s Turkey Farm Dinner on board the Train. This is a Hart’s famous home style turkey dinner, just like grandma made at Thanksgiving. Menu: Turkey, Potato, Gravy, Stuffing, Cranberry Sauce, Rolls, Vegetable, & Dessert. YUM! Following our train ride visit Mills Falls Marketplace in the heart of Meredith. Enjoy the al fresco scenic walkways dotted with flowers and sculptures and discover a collection of unique shops and eateries.
Paddles on the Farmington Series with Main Stream Canoes & Kayaks
1. Intro to Paddling – West Hill Lake (Meet at West Hill Lake ) Difficulty: Beginner | All Ages Enjoy a calm, beginner-friendly paddle while learning basic techniques and water safety. Ideal for first-timers or anyone looking for a peaceful morning on one of Connecticut’s clearest lakes. 2. Lower Farmington River – Avon to Simsbury (Meet at Nod Brook Wildlife Management Area) Difficulty: Easy | Moving Water This gentle moving-water trip is perfect for families and new paddlers. Float through scenic stretches of the Farmington River surrounded by lush greenery and summer wildlife. 3. Mid-River Adventure – Pleasant Valley to New Hartford (Meet at Main Stream Canoes & Kayaks) Difficulty: Intermediate A step-up paddle with light current and small riffles—a great mix of relaxation and excitement. This scenic 6-mile stretch showcases the natural beauty and mild adventure of the Farmington River. 4. Fall Foliage Finale – West Hill Lake (Meet at West Hill Lake ) Difficulty: All Levels Celebrate the close of the season with a colorful fall paddle. Enjoy crisp air, vibrant foliage, and reflections of autumn leaves dancing on the water.

Aging in Place: How to Protect Assets and Stay at Home
Financial & Retirement
Connecticut is one of the top 3 states with the highest nursing home and long-term care costs, making it essential to protect what you've worked hard for—ideally while staying in your own home. In this program, we will help you understand how to safeguard your assets and position yourself to age in place. You will learn about Medicaid and other state public benefits, as well as strategies for married and single individuals to protect their assets. All participants will receive an informational booklet on long-term care planning, crafted by our estate planning and elder law firm.

We will cover topics such as personal budgeting, the importance of developing an investment strategy, common investing mistakes and how to avoid them, and how to translate your retirement vision into tangible goals. We will also review the basics of estate planning so you can consider the options that make the most sense for your specific situation.

Getting Your Estate Plan Right: How to Create the Best Plan for You

Do you have a strong and up-to-date estate plan? If the answer is ‘no’, this task should be at the top of your to-do list. An estate plan provides a legally documented roadmap to ensure your wishes are followed and your loved ones are cared for if you cannot manage your financial, health, or legal affairs. This session covers key documents such as wills, powers of attorney, advance directives, trusts, and beneficiary designations, explaining their purposes and powers. Learn what happens without a will, how to choose your power of attorney and health care agents, and common estate planning mistakes to avoid. All participants receive an easy-to-understand estate planning guidebook written by our attorneys.

Savvy Social Security Planning for Baby Boomers

How do you apply, and how do your spouse's benefits affect yours? This course covers the basics of Social Security andhow to coordinate it with other retirement income sources. Learn strategies for maximizing your benefits and minimizing taxes on your Social Security. Bring your questions as we explore your options in making this important financial decision.
