Line Dancing - Beginner
Line dancing is healthy for both the body and the mind, as well as a lot of fun! This is a great opportunity to learn how to line dance while having a good time. Each week, the degree of difficulty will gradually increase for both the dances and critiques. Come alone or with a partner!

Artistic Creations with Mrs. Donlon (Gr. 1-4)
A fun opportunity to create works of art using a variety of art media. Students will spend each art class exploring painting, drawing, and more! Each student will have beautiful and exciting pieces to take home at the end of the session.The course fee includes the cost of the supplies.This course has several sections. Please view the dates and register for the correct section according to grade.PLEASE NOTE: This Course is for enrolled students at East Farms Elementary School only.*** PLEASE NOTE OUR YOUTH DISMISSAL AND PICK-UP POLICY***On the day of the course be sure to inform your child's school office, using their prescribed dismissal change policy, that your child will be attending this program after school. Refunds will not be provided for missed classes. At the end of the school day when dismissed, students who are attending may be sent to EXCL until the time of the program starts. When the course starts, they will be brought to the course classroom by the instructor. Parents are not to bring their children to the school to attend this course, students are only to be dismissed directly from school.Parents should be prompt to pick up at the course dismissal time as charges will accrue if parents are late. Dismissal will occur at the entrance of the building and will be facilitated by the school security guard and instructor. Parents will not be permitted into the building and it is advised that parents stay in their cars until the dismissal time, or until the instructor is visible at the front door. Each parent will need to sign their child out and must have a valid I.D. ready. The I.D. must match that of the parent/guardian who signed up the child or by an authorized pick-up. To authorize an additional pick-up, please call 860-404-0290 Ext. 7070.Students who are attending EXCL on the day of the course will be dismissed back to EXCL.

Backed by research that shows short bouts of intense exercise can be as effective as longer more moderate workouts, this class makes it easy to fit exercise in your schedule. This class will have a short warm up and cool down, and in-between we will be working intensely with fun, full body moves. Modifications will be given so that you can work at the right pace for you. Welcome to Avon Afro Dance Fitness led by Jolie Cayer. Jolie is an experienced instructor with a certification in Health, Fitness, and Nutrition. Avon Afro Dance is where Vibrant rhythms and energetic moves come together to create an unforgettable workout experience. Our class combines traditional Central African dance techniques with cardio-aerobic fitness routines. Avon Afro Dance Fitness is committed to sharing the joy and vibrance of Afro-dance through our fitness classes. We help participants stay active while immersing them in African culture. Whether you are new to dance or a seasoned mover, our classes offer a dynamic way to get fit and celebrate the rich rhythms of Africa. Courses are 45 minutes in length. Beginners welcome - no prior experience needed. Bring water, a sweat towel and wear comfortable shoes.

Basic Ballet & Stretch

Each week we will do many beginner level ballet exercises in the center of the room and at the barre. We will finish with gentle floor stretches so please bring a yoga mat. This class is a no-pressure, non-traditional ballet class environment. Please sign up for Amy’s Introduction To Ballet Class prior to this class, as during that course you will learn the exercises that will be done during this one. Come in comfortable clothing. Ballet shoes are recommended, but socks are suitable.

BollyX: Dance Fitness

BollyX is a Bollywood-inspired dance-fitness program that combines dynamic choreography with the hottest music from around the world. 45-minute cardio workout cycles between higher and lower-intensity dance sequences will get you moving, sweating, and smiling. At the very core of a BollyX workout is the inspiration it draws from the music and dance of Bollywood, the film industry of India. BollyX embodies the infectious energy, expression, and movement of Bollywood and aims to expand the reach of fitness to more people worldwide. The fitness curriculum has been created by world-class choreographers and certified fitness professionals to ensure a safe and effective total body dance workout for all. A friendly exercise program that combines low-impact aerobics with stretching, strength training, and routines to improve flexibility, muscular strength, balance, and cardiovascular fitness. Introduction to Ballet

This class is perfect for someone that has never taken ballet before or has not participated in a ballet class in a very long time. This class is also recommended to be taken before you sign up for Amy’s Basic Ballet & Stretch Class, as we will learn many of the exercises that she does during that class, at a much slower pace.

Muscles in Motion

This course consists of a short warm-up and stretch followed by weight training designed to strengthen and tone major muscle groups and increase bone density. This is a full upper and lower body workout. Learn skills to enhance your overall balance and strengthen your back. Gluteus and abdominal muscles will be stressed. Flexibility, breathing exercises, and relaxation will complete this dynamic workout. Bring mat and weights to class. Instruction will take place through Zoom. Exercises focus on the core muscles which include the abs, back, glutes and shoulders. We work to create balance and strength in your trunk and loose, limber limbs. Pilates strives to makes you strong and long while improving balance, coordination and posture. Every part of the body gets worked and you’ll discover muscles you never knew you had. Please bring a mat, a water, a green (or medium weight) flex band, and a 7.5-9 inch stability ball. Instruction will take place through Zoom. Through exercises that improve stability and mobility, you'll feel more prepared for daily challenges and regain control of your life. Bring a water bottle, towel, and mat. Simple Stretches with Chair Exercises

Experience a soft, simple stretch and workout for the mind and body. In this class we stretch from head to toe. Most of this course is done sitting in a chair. Thera Bands and hand weights are used from time to time. Feel free to bring you own or we have some that you can use. On occasion we stand, holding onto a chair, to aid in our ability to balance. This course is wonderful for those who are less mobile and not as flexible. Come exercise in a setting with support from other participants. Wear comfortable exercise clothing and socks (bare feet are fine as well).

Slo-Flow Yoga

This course offers a flowing sequence of seated and standing yoga postures, with modifications, at a relaxed pace. The focus is on mindfulness, flexibility, and stress reduction using various forms of breath work and movement for a full body experience. Poses are held for longer durations, allowing for deeper stretches and a meditative atmosphere. Leave class feeling centered, focused, and ready to start your day. Some yoga experience is helpful. Students have the following course options: Tuesday AND Thursday - Two (2) days a week Tuesday OR Thursday - One (1) day a week with the flexibility to choose a Tuesday or a Thursday on a weekly basis. Please bring a yoga mat, 2 blocks, and a yoga blanket to class.
