Civics - FOR CREDIT (Gr. 11-12)
The purpose of this course is to provide an intensive study of government, law, and citizenship. Successful completion fulfills the social studies graduation requirement in Civics. Enrollment is on a space-available basis.The class will be taught remotely. Login instructions will be emailed to registrants before the start of class. This course is open to Farmington High School students entering grades 11-12 only.

2026 marks the 250th anniversary of our nation's founding in 1776 - the United States of America's Semi-quincentennial. For this milestone occasion, a fleet of the world's most magnificent sailing ships and military ships, in an epic peacetime gathering, will gather in the port of Boston. Our day in Boston will include a wonderful opportunity for up-close views of this amazing gathering of ships aboard a narrated cruise in Boston Harbor. We'll board Charles Riverboat's Lexington - a 2 level paddlewheeler departing from Rowe's Wharf in Boston Harbor. Enjoy an afternoon three-course family-style Italian lunch at Maggiano's Little Italy - everyone's favorite! Trip includes motorcoach, cruise, lunch, gratuities, and Trip Leader.

Boston Tea Party - A Revolutionary Experience

Relive the year 1773 at the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum! You will be transported on an incredible journey back in time as you take part in the famous event that forever changed the course of American History! Begin your guided tour at the Meeting House where Sam Adams patiently awaits your arrival. From there, you will be guided to the Tea Party Ships to be greeted by a Son of Liberty. Engage yourselves in a story of his own while you prepare to participate in the historical dumping of the tea alongside your fellow patriots! Continue to the museum where you will experience hightech, interactive exhibits, authentically restored tea ships and more. Spend time at Boston’s famous Quincy Market for lunch (on own).

The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) has world-class culinary training since 1946. Located in St Andrew-on-Hudson in Hyde Park, NY, the CIA enrolls over 1,900 students from all states and many foreign countries. A world of diverse cuisines and enticing flavors awaits you at one of their award-winning, student-staffed restaurants. Full course lunch in a student-run restaurant: Bocuse, Caterina de Medici Restaurant, or American Bounty. Following lunch, enjoy an interactive CIA Experience and get an inside look into the world of food education. Participate in an interactive demonstration where you’ll explore the science of taste. Time to explore their abundant gift shop and bakery. Trip includes motor coach, CIA, lunch, tour director and gratuities. Lighthouses of Southern New England

Step aboard for a memorable lighthouse cruise that brings the region’s maritime and Revolutionary War history to life. Travel by comfortable, climate-controlled, high-speed vessel as you glide across Long Island Sound, taking in panoramic views of some of the most iconic and photographed lighthouses in New England. From early beacons that once stood watch during the Revolutionary War to guiding lights that shaped over a century of seafaring commerce, each landmark has a story to tell. Departing from New London, this two-hour narrated journey features views of at least eight historic lighthouses, including New London Harbor Light, Ledge Light, Race Rock, Little Gull, North Dumpling, and more. Enjoy rich narration, coastal scenery, and a fresh perspective on the waterways that helped shape Southern New England and Long Island’s past. Set sail for history—your lighthouse adventure awaits. Paddles on the Farmington Series with Main Stream Canoes & Kayaks

Explore the scenic Farmington River Valley with Main Stream Canoes & Kayaks. This 4-part paddling series is designed to introduce you to the joy of paddling as you tour the region’s most beautiful waterways. Each outing offers a unique experience—from calm lake paddles to scenic moving water—and is suitable for varying skill levels. Participants can join individual sessions or the full series. All programs are fully guided by experienced Main Stream staff. Equipment (canoe/kayak, paddles, PFDs) is included. Participants bring water, sunscreen, and a sense of adventure. 1. Intro to Paddling – West Hill Lake (Meet at West Hill Lake ) Difficulty: Beginner | All Ages Enjoy a calm, beginner-friendly paddle while learning basic techniques and water safety. Ideal for first-timers or anyone looking for a peaceful morning on one of Connecticut’s clearest lakes. 2. Lower Farmington River – Avon to Simsbury (Meet at Nod Brook Wildlife Management Area) Difficulty: Easy | Moving Water This gentle moving-water trip is perfect for families and new paddlers. Float through scenic stretches of the Farmington River surrounded by lush greenery and summer wildlife. 3. Mid-River Adventure – Pleasant Valley to New Hartford (Meet at Main Stream Canoes & Kayaks) Difficulty: Intermediate A step-up paddle with light current and small riffles—a great mix of relaxation and excitement. This scenic 6-mile stretch showcases the natural beauty and mild adventure of the Farmington River. 4. Fall Foliage Finale – West Hill Lake (Meet at West Hill Lake ) Difficulty: All Levels Celebrate the close of the season with a colorful fall paddle. Enjoy crisp air, vibrant foliage, and reflections of autumn leaves dancing on the water. Each person over 18 years old will need a waiver signed. Tanglewood - Boston Symphony Orchestra

We’re in for a delightful Sunday Matinee at Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Today’s performance will feature Yo-Yo Ma, Arooj Aftab, Karen Ouzounian, and Christine Lee as they perform Tavener, Kalhor, and Golijov.Time prior to the performance to grab a bite to eat at one of the cafes on the Tanglewood campus and wander the beautiful grounds.
