Nancy's basket weaving journey began shortly after graduating college with a class taught by Manson-Lu Christ at Wesleyan Potters in Middletown, Connecticut. Over the next 40 years, her newly found hobby took her to basket weaving conferences and classes in Connecticut, North Carolina, and Vermont where she learned from renowned instructors such as Diane Stanton, Eric Taylor, Flo Hoppe, Sosse Baker, JoAnn Kelly Castos, Sue and Bill Smith and others. These experts taught her to weave baskets with natural materials such as rattan, wicker, paper, willow, oak, pine needle, and birch bark in an assortment of styles to include Shaker, Nantucket, contemporary, and ribbed. After retiring from the corporate world in 2020, Nancy turned my sights to sharing her knowledge with others interested in learning more about this art form. She has a studio in Unionville where she help students explore basket weaving, and she also teaches basketry through local adult education programs. Nancy is a member of both the Northeast and North Carolina Basketmakers Associations.Www.Kalosbaskery.com
