Learn the basics of knitting and leave with a scarf at the end of this 6-part series. New or struggling knitters will master casting on, knit and purl stitches, reading patterns, common textures found in knitting patterns and binding off. Basic knitting supplies, 350 yards of worsted weight yarn and US8 knitting needles are required for class.

US8 knitting needles
350 yards Worsted weight yarn ready to knit with (Not recommended - yarn that is very dark, marled, heathered or variegated).
Basic knit kit with bent tip darning needle, locking stitch markers, scissors, etc.
Row/Stitch counter or app such as Knit Companion
High school librarian by day, crafter for life. Dawn, The Stitching Coach, is an award winning embroider, quilter and knitter. An avid stitcher since 1983, she became a paid instructor in 2014 when a librarian asked her to teach a class. She advises a high school sewing club, volunteers with the Simsbury Chapter of Days for Girls. She is a TKGA, Studio 180 (quilt) Design and BurdaStyle Certified Teacher. She is passionate about all needle arts and ready to pass that along to all generations and skill levels.
