Summer Art Academy (Gr. 1-6)
Farmington Public Schools art educators invite you to join them for one week of intensive art-making and fun! Join Farmington Continuing Education's first summer art academy at West Woods School in Farmington. Taught by Farmington Public Schools professional educators, this class will have students working in a variety of media and subject matter. Printmaking, weaving, floral painting, watercolor, collage, installation art and more will be covered in this week long course. Students should wear appropriate clothing, and bring waterbottle and lunch daily.NOTES: Registration deadline: July 15 Cancellation Policy: Cancellations with a refund will be allowed up to July 15 less a $35 fee. There are NO cancellations / refunds after July 15.

FIRST® LEGO® League Summer Program (Gr. 1-4)
Lights, camera, STEAM! Science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) inspire big ideas, bold action – and creativity. Our skills make it possible to create art and experiences that bring us together, entertain us, and move us. During this session, FIRST® IN SHOW presented by Qualcomm, we will celebrate the roles our STEM skills play in the arts, design, and building of a world of endless possibilities. The future is yours to create. Under the instruction of the Farmington Robotics Enforcers, students will work together to solve fun engineering challenges and build models using LEGO® bricks, gaining confidence, and teambuilding skills along the way. 1 PM - 4 PM Students in grades 1-4 Students focus on the fundamentals of engineering as they explore real-world problems, learn to design, and code, and create unique solutions made with LEGO bricks and powered by LEGO® Education WeDo 2.0. Students should bring their school/personal Chromebook or laptop to class each day, if possible, along with a healthy snack and a water bottle! Cancellation/Refund Policy: Cancellations with a refund will be allowed up to July 22th less a $35 fee. Math Credit Recovery
FHS Credit Recovery & For Credit Courses
Students needing math credit recovery in Algebra 2B, Geometry, or Algebra 2A are eligible for this course. The descriptions for each course are listed below. Students in the math credit recovery course will receive targeted instruction and support on a personalized pathway. Successful completion of the course will be determined based on the student’s demonstration of mastery of the requisite standards and will result in the student earning credit in one of the following three courses. (Note: Students who need credit recovery in both Geometry and Algebra 2A are not eligible for this course and will need to enroll in both courses during the next school year. This course is not to be used to recover credit in Advanced Topics in Algebra 2.) Geometry - Credit recovery in this course is designed for FHS students who earned at least a 50% final course average in Geometry. The focus of the course will be placed on mastering the standards needed to be successful in Algebra 2A and Algebra 2B, such as right triangle trigonometry and properties of circles. Algebra 2A - Credit recovery in this course is designed for FHS students who earned at least a 50% final course average in Algebra 2A. The focus of the course will be placed on mastering the standards needed to be successful in Algebra 2B, such as transforming parent functions and solving nonlinear equations. Algebra 2B - Credit recovery in this course is designed for FHS students who earned at least a 50% final course average in Algebra 2B. The focus of the course will be placed on mastering the standards needed to be successful in future math electives, such as transforming functions, solving nonlinear functions, systems of equations and inequalities, and foundations of trigonometry. Students who complete Algebra 2B summer school successfully may not be fully prepared to move on to Advanced Topics in Algebra 2. The class will be taught remotely. Login instructions will be emailed to registrants before the start of class. This is a remedial course for FARMINGTON High School students ONLY!

Financial Literacy - FOR CREDIT (Gr. 9-10)
FHS Credit Recovery & For Credit Courses
The purpose of this course is to provide a space for students to work through the Next Generation Personal Finance standards which include banking, credit, budgeting, investment, taxes and consumer skills. Successful completion fulfills the CT graduation requirement for a 0.5 credit in Financial Literacy. Enrollment is on a space-available basis.The class will be taught remotely. Login instructions will be emailed to registrants before the start of class. This course is open to FARMINGTON High School students entering grades 9 or 10 ONLY. Dates: June 25 - July 19 (no class on July 4 or 5), 8:30 AM to 12 Noon, 17 sessions.
