Unlock the full potential of your smartphone and transform your ideas into captivating videos for personal projects, social media, documenting events, or even small business marketing. This hands-on course is designed for those eager to learn the essentials of shooting high-quality videos using just their smartphone. Whether you're a beginner or looking to sharpen your skills, this class will guide you through the entire process – from learning the basics of your smartphone’s video camera to working with a high quality (and free!) editing program to produce your final, polished video.Everything necessary for creating wonderful smartphone videos will be addressed, including: Locating and learning about the various video camera controls on your smartphone Discussing the best settings for those video camera controls How specific camera accessories can greatly improve the quality of your videos Specific steps to follow when getting ready to shoot Specific steps to follow while shooting your video The art of composition – how to frame your shots and manipulate your camera for more visually engaging videos AND, an introduction to a great editing program for turning your raw footage into a polished video production A very complete handout will be distributed on arrival. It contains lots of information and will greatly simplify the process of understanding what’s being taught in class. You’ll also find it quite useful for review after the class ends. The purpose of this course is to provide an intensive study of government, law, and citizenship. Successful completion fulfills the social studies graduation requirement in Civics. Enrollment is on a space-available basis. The class will be taught remotely. Login instructions will be emailed to registrants before the start of class. This course is open to Farmington High School students entering grades 11-12 only.

This is a credit recovery course designed for FHS students who earned a 50% or higher final average in the following English courses taught at FHS: English 100H, English 200H, American Literature H, American Studies, and all of the senior English class offerings. In this course, students will be provided additional time to practice essential learning skills in order to meet the required English graduation standards. This is a remedial course for FARMINGTON High School students only.

Financial Literacy - FOR CREDIT (Gr. 9-11)
FHS Credit Recovery & For Credit Courses
The purpose of this course is to provide a space for students to work through the Next Generation Personal Finance standards which include banking, credit, budgeting, investment, taxes and consumer skills. Successful completion fulfills the CT graduation requirement for a 0.5 credit in Financial Literacy. Enrollment is on a space-available basis. The class will be taught remotely. Login instructions will be emailed to registrants before the start of class. This course is open to Farmington High School students entering grades 9-11 only.

French FLST Proficiency Credit Recovery
FHS Credit Recovery & For Credit Courses
The purpose of this credit recovery course is to give students one-on-one assistance in developing the skills necessary to pass the Farmington Language Standards Test. Meeting the standard on this test is an FHS graduation requirement. Enrollment is open to eligible FHS students who have been recommended for this course by their high school language teacher. This is a remedial course for Farmington High School students only.

Health, Physical Education and Wellness Credit Recovery
FHS Credit Recovery & For Credit Courses
The purpose of this credit recovery course is to provide more time and assistance for those students who did not achieve course standards in Wellness 9, 10, or 11 curricula during the regular school year. Students will complete individualized units of study for credit. Successful completion fulfills the required credit for graduation in the selected class. Enrollment is open to FHS students who achieved at least a 50% final average in Wellness 9, 10, or 11. This is a remedial course for FARMINGTON High School students only.

Math Credit Recovery
FHS Credit Recovery & For Credit Courses
Math - FHS students needing math credit recovery in Geometry, Algebra 2A, or Algebra 2B who earned at least a 50% in one of these courses are eligible for this course. The descriptions for each course are listed below. Note: Students who need credit recovery in both Geometry and Algebra 2A are not eligible for this course and will need to enroll in both courses during the next school year. This course is not to be used to recover credit in Advanced Topics in Algebra 2. Geometry - The focus of the course will be placed on mastering the standards needed to be successful in Algebra 2A and Algebra 2B, such as right triangle trigonometry and properties of circles. Algebra 2A - The focus of the course will be placed on mastering the standards needed to be successful in Algebra 2B, such as transforming parent functions and solving nonlinear equations. Algebra 2B - The focus of the course will be placed on mastering the standards needed to be successful in future math electives, such as transforming functions, solving nonlinear functions, systems of equations and inequalities, and foundations of trigonometry. Students who complete Algebra 2B summer school successfully may not be fully prepared to move on to Advanced Topics in Algebra 2. This is a remedial course for FARMINGTON High School students only.

Science Credit Recovery

This is a credit recovery course designed for FHS students who earned a 50% or higher final average in the following Science courses taught at FHS: Physics, Biology, and Chemistry. In this course, students will be provided additional time and assistance to practice essential learning skills in order to meet the required Science graduation standards. Successful completion allows students to earn one credit in the completed course. This is a remedial course for FARMINGTON High School students only.

Skills for Success in Advanced Placement (AP) and College-Level Courses (Gr. 10-12)
FHS Credit Recovery & For Credit Courses
The purpose of this course is to provide students with the opportunity to build the skills and study habits needed to be engaged learners in college-level courses. This course will focus on critical thinking and reasoning, written communication, and problem-solving. Students will spend time developing the organizational, inquiry, and writing skills needed to be successful in college-level courses, including AP, Tunxis’s courses, and UCONN’s Early College Experience (ECE) courses. This course is for Farmington High School students in grades 10-12 only who are enrolled in AP, ECE, or other college-level courses offered at FHS and will meet in-person at FHS

This is a credit recovery course designed for FHS students who earned a 50% or higher final average in the following Social Studies courses taught at FHS: World History I H, World History II H, and Government and Law. In this course, students will be provided additional time to master core content-area standards and essential learning skills in order to meet the required course standards. Note: Students who need credit recovery for American Studies must enroll in the English Credit Recovery Course. This is a remedial course for FARMINGTON High School students only.

Transition for Success (students entering Gr. 9)
FHS Credit Recovery & For Credit Courses
The purpose of the Transition for Success course is to assist students entering 9th grade in developing the tools necessary for positive academic, behavioral, and social/emotional success at Farmington High School. Students will engage in activities to jump-start their freshman year. They will learn about motivation and growth mindset, and they will set goals and organize themselves for a successful launch into 9th grade. Students will receive personalized instruction on the support available to them as students at FHS, including training on using the technologies utilized by FHS faculty and staff as tools for learning. Enrollment is on a space-available basis and open to any incoming FARMINGTON High School students entering grade 9 ONLY and will meet in-person at FHS.
