Civics - FOR CREDIT (Gr. 11-12)
The purpose of this course is to provide an intensive study of government, law, and citizenship. Successful completion fulfills the social studies graduation requirement in Civics. Enrollment is on a space-available basis.The class will be taught remotely. Login instructions will be emailed to registrants before the start of class. This course is open to Farmington High School students entering grades 11-12 only.

All the following courses are free for residents of Avon, Burlington, Canton, Collinsville, Farmington, Harwinton, Simsbury, Unionville, Weatogue, and West Simsbury. An evening youth room monitor is available in the evening ONLY for children who are 4 years and older and toilet-trained! Workforce Preparation Classes Refine your resume, improve your interviewing skills, and get connected with local employment agencies. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements. Winter/Spring Daytime 2026: February 6 - June 26 Friday Location: Farmington Library - 6 Monteith Drive, Farmington, CT 06032 Times: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM Free English Classes Learn to speak, read, and write English with a focus on skills needed in everyday life. Both day and evening courses will be offered at three levels (beginner, intermediate, and advanced). Registration is required for all new students. Winter/Spring Daytime 2026: January 27 - May 14 Tuesday & Thursday Location: Farmington Library - 6 Monteith Drive, Farmington, CT 06032 Times: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM Winter/Spring Evening 2026: January 26 - May 13 Monday & Wednesday Location: Farmington High School, 10 Monteith Drive, Farmington Times: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM The GED® Preparation Program GED® preparation classes prepare a student to take the state-sponsored GED® Examination to earn a Connecticut State High School Diploma. The minimum age for enrollment in adult education is 17 years of age. Students must document school withdrawal with parental permission. Visit “Getting a GED in Connecticut” for more information. You will improve your life skills and can prepare to enter a high school completion program. Winter/Spring 2026: January 26 - May 13 Monday & Wednesday Location: Farmington High School - 10 Monteith Drive, Farmington Times: 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM Citizenship Preparation This 12-week course prepares the applicant in the 3 areas of the naturalization process including both the application and documents, U. S. History and Government, Reading, and Writing.
