From Memory to Memoir: Writing Your Life Story

Fall 2024

Turn memories of significant events in your life into a memoir for your children and grandchildren. Learn where to start, how to get organized, and keep going until you finish. Get tips on pictures and documents to include and how to self-publish your story. No previous writing experience is required.

Instruction will take place through Zoom. Registrants will receive an email from Farmington Continuing Education containing a link and instructor information before the start of the course.

Writing with Susan - Susan Omilian

Instructor

Susan Omilian is a professional writer with over forty years of experience whose writing expertise includes fiction, non-fiction, newspaper writing, business writing and journaling. She is the author of three published award-winning non-fiction books as well as three novels. She has also written articles and essays for numerous publications including The Hartford Courant and has been a local newspaper editor and reporter. She has worked in public relations at a hospital and in classified advertising at The Detroit Free Press. Since 2001, Susan has taught memoir and fiction writing classes at several adult and community education programs as well as local senior citizen centers. She regularly works as a teacher and writing coach helping others improve their writing and story-telling skills in individual sessions or with groups. She is a member of the Connecticut Authors and Publishers Association (CAPA) and the Association of Publishers for Special Sales (APSS).
