Math Olympiad (Grades 5-6)
"MOEMS is one of the most influential and fun-filled math competition programs in the United States and throughout the world. More than 120,000 students from every state and 39 additional countries participate each year. The objectives of MOEMS are to teach multiple strategies for out-of-the-box problem solving, develop mathematical flexibility in solving those problems, and foster mathematical creativity and ingenuity. MOEMS was established in 1979... (https://moems.org)"Farmington Continuing Education is happy to provide twice the number of registration positions for one of West Woods' most popular programs. It is important to acknowledge that this program is a math competition, it is not a math workshop or opportunity for additional help with math that is part of the school day. Students must work independantly to complete the math tasks and problems. The problems and tasks provided in the course are developed by MOEMS and are grade appropriate. This program is offered in the mornings, before school. Parents will need to drop off their children at the front entrance at the start time of the program and sign in. Please note this course is offered before school and ONLY to students who attend the school where it is offered. If your child participates in Farmington EXCL, be sure to indicate to the site supervisor or morning staff that your child is to attend Math Olympiad. FCE does not prorate course fees based on any type of absence or missed class.
