Advanced Beginner French

This course is for students who have already studied the basics of French and would like to expand their knowledge by talking about past and future activities.

The objectives of this course are for you to be able to say that I can:

  • communicate on more advanced topics in a variety of tenses.
  • understand the more detailed conversation and talk about your home, health, professions.
  • read more detailed texts and listen to a variety of videos and authentic conversations.

Tom McGinnis

Instructor

Tom has been teaching French and Spanish in Farmington since 1997. He began teaching at Irving Robbins Middle School. For the past 21 years, Tom has been at Farmington High School.

Tom earned his Bachelor of Science degree in International Management from Central Connecticut State University and obtained a Master of Arts degree in French from Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT. Tom completed his sixth year in Spanish at Central Connecticut State University.

Tom has had the opportunity to study and travel to France, Spain, Trinidad, Montreal, and Quebec. He currently lives in Marlborough, CT with his wife and chocolate lab, Huey. He has a daughter, Shannon, who lives in Wethersfield. Tom enjoys traveling biking and hiking. His favorite place in the United States is Acadia National Park.
