Line Dancing - Beginner
Line dancing is healthy for both the body and the mind, as well as a lot of fun! This is a great opportunity to learn how to line dance while having a good time. Each week, the degree of difficulty will gradually increase for both the dances and critiques. Come alone or with a partner!

Babysitter CPR and Beyond! (Ages 11-15)
Babysitting & Child Safety
This course will help students learn about infant/child CPR, basic first aid, and how to handle a medical emergency by assessing the scene and calling 911. Prerequisite: Students should either be certified babysitters or have taken the Babysitting Basics course. The course fee includes an American Red Cross babysitter training book and a certificate that is mailed out within a month of successful completion of the course (student attendance is mandatory to receive a certificate). No snacks or food is to be brought to the class.

Babysitting Basics (Ages 11-15)
Babysitting & Child Safety
Taught by an American Red Cross instructor, this course will prepare boys and girls to be responsible babysitters. Topics include supervision of children, accident prevention, first aid, caring and feeding of infants and children, and what to do in an emergency. Most importantly, your new knowledge and skills will make you a more confident babysitter - which is sure to be good for your business. The course fee includes an American Red Cross babysitter training book and a certificate that is mailed out within a month of successful completion of the course (student attendance is mandatory to receive a certificate). *This course is a prerequisite for the Babysitter CPR & Beyond course. No snacks or food is to be brought to the class.

Cursive Writing Club with Mrs. Chaves

Come learn the basic strokes, connections, and formations necessary to write in traditional cursive writing. Studies have shown that cursive writing provides a wide range of cognitive benefits including improvements in reading skill, writing confidence, and memory retention. Join veteran Farmington Public Schools teacher, Mrs. Chaves, in this 5 course class and bring some finesse to your child's writing. Be sure to pack a snack. We will have a brief break to eat once students arrive. PLEASE NOTE: This course is for enrolled students at their respective home schools. *** PLEASE NOTE OUR YOUTH DISMISSAL AND PICK-UP POLICY*** On the day of the course be sure to inform your child's school office, using their prescribed dismissal change policy, that your child will be attending this program. Refunds will not be provided for missed classes. At the end of the school day when dismissed, students who are attending will be sent to EXCL. When the course starts, they will be brought to the course classroom by the instructor. Parents are not to bring their children to the school to attend this course, students are only to be dismissed directly from school. Parents should be prompt to pick up at the course dismissal time as charges will accrue if parents are late. Dismissal will occur at the entrance of the building and will be facilitated by the school security guard and instructor. Parents will not be permitted into the building and it is advised that parents stay in their cars until the dismissal time, or until the instructor is visible at the front door. Each parent will need to sign their child out and must have a valid I.D. ready. The I.D. must match that of the parent/guardian who signed up the child or by an authorized pick-up. To authorize an additional pick-up, please call 860-404-0290 Ext. 7070. Students who are attending EXCL on the day of the course will be dismissed back to EXCL.

FOOD Explorers No Bake Taster (Gr. 1-3)

This course is perfect for that student who is interested in cooking and wants to learn some of the basics. Join Food Explorers for a delicious dessert program for your youngest chefs! You’ll be making Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake Pies featuring your own graham cracker crust! Practice using the electric mixer to make the filling and whipped cream and have fun assembling your own pie! Recipe is nut free but will contain dairy and gluten. The course fee includes the cost of ingredients and supplies. PLEASE NOTE: This Course is for Farmington Public Schools students who are enrolled at West District, Union School, East Farms, and Noah Wallace. You must register at the school that your child attends and where it is offered. Food Explorers: Fall and Holliday Baking

Join Food Explorers for a delicious treats in our ever popular seasonal baking series. Session A: Fall Baking Join Food Explorers for a cozy and delicious adventure in the kitchen! In this hands-on fall baking class, young chefs will learn to make tasty seasonal treats. You’ll be making: Pumpkin S’mores Cookies, Mini Apple Spice Bread, Sweet Potato Cookie Pies, and Cranberry Cobbler with Whipped Cream. All recipes are nut-free and vegetarian but will contain dairy, eggs, and gluten. Session B: Holiday Baking It’s the most wonderful time to bake! Join Food Explorers in this joyful hands-on class where young bakers will whip up holiday-themed treats. You’ll be making: Berry Cobbler with Whipped Cream, Chocolate Candy Cane Cookies, Gingerbread Whoopie Pies, and Butterscotch Cookie Pies. All recipes are nut-free and vegetarian but will contain dairy, eggs, and gluten. The course fee includes the cost of ingredients and supplies.

Get into the rhythm and allow music to conduct your artwork! Listen to music from around the world like pop, jazz, symphonies and more! Learn about the rich musical cultures of East Africa and the Gond Tribe in India. Make art inspired by the classics. Learn about French master Edgar Degas and explore movement and balance. Improvise like jazz-inspired African-American artist Romare Bearden. Make your own musical instruments and get ready to create harmonious Art and Music! All materials are included in the cost of the course.

The Coder School: Minecraft (Ages 8+)

Get Started at The Coder School! For a lower, per class rate, sign up for this class through Farmington Continuing Education. After registering with FCE, continued registration will need to be with The Coder School. Using the Minecraft Education Edition students will solve code and go through lesson plans such as planets, pandas, saving the polar bears, and more. Students will learn the X, Y, and Z coordinates, along with variables, conditions, loops, and more. Come join the fun! For ages 8+ only please. All equipment and accounts will be provided at the Coder School. For ages 8+ only please. The Coder School will provide all needed hardware for this course.

Learn the fastest growing language out right now, used by Google, Instagram, and Netflix! Learn how to draw shapes and create designs using the turtle library. Using the platform scratch developed by MIT and block coding ‐ create advanced games such as a solar system, Mario platformer, and much more! Learn about loops, variables, x and y coordinates, if and then statements, and more! Students will also use the mBots to code robots to move around using block coding. Come join the fun. When I Am In Charge (Ages 8+)
Babysitting & Child Safety
This course, taught by an American Red Cross instructor, is for boys and girls who are home alone. The course will cover all the safety concerns parents have when their children are by themselves, such as arriving home, responsibilities, phone and internet safety, fire safety, and much more! Students will receive an information packet to take home. No snacks or food are to be brought to the class.
