Arts and Crafts with Mrs. Bastiaanse-Fritch (Gr. 1-4)
A fun opportunity to create works of art using a variety of art media. Students will spend each art class exploring painting, drawing, and more! Each student will have beautiful and exciting pieces to take home at the end of the session.The course fee includes the cost of the supplies.This course has two sections. Grade 1 & 2 is offered on Mondays, and Grade 3 & 4 on Wednesdays. Be sure to choose the correct section for your child's grade level.PLEASE NOTE: This Course is for enrolled students at West District School only.*** PLEASE NOTE OUR YOUTH DISMISSAL AND PICK-UP POLICY***On the day of the course be sure to inform your child's school office, using their prescribed dismissal change policy, that your child will be attending EXCL for the enrichment course you have signed up for. Refunds will not be provided for missed classes. At the end of the school day when dismissed, students who are attending will be sent to EXCL. When the course starts, they will be brought to the course classroom by the instructor. Parents are not to bring their children to the school to attend this course, students are only to be dismissed directly from school.Parents should be prompt to pick up at the course dismissal time as charges will accrue if parents are late. Dismissal will occur at the entrance of the building and will be facilitated by the school security guard and instructor. Parents will not be permitted into the building and it is advised that parents stay in their cars until the dismissal time, or until the instructor is visible at the front door. Each parent will need to sign their child out and must have a valid I.D. ready. The I.D. must match that of the parent/guardian who signed up the child or by an authorized pick-up. To authorize an additional pick-up, please call 860-404-0290 Ext. 7070.Students who are attending EXCL on the day of the course will be dismissed back to EXCL.

Gentle Essentrics III: Ready For Summer!
Stretching and Strengthening will help you to enjoy all your favorite summer activities with ease! Core strengthening for golf, Flexiblity for gardening, Strength for hiking, walking, biking. Loosen and hydrate connective tissue and increase pliability of ligaments and tendons. Be free to celebrate the summer pain free! Inviting men and women of all fitness levels to a class taught by Gene and Debbie. Gentle Essentrics is a stretch and strengthen 45-minute workout designed to increase your energy and flexibility, loosen and hydrate fascia, decompress your joints, and release tension through relaxation and respectful exercise. Great for men and women of all ages and fitness levels. Videos are available at youtube.com or at the bottom of our website page: “essentricswithdebbieandgene.com".**Classes that take place at the Farmington First Church of Christ location are held in the lower level of the Porter Memorial Building next to the church. The door is accessable from both Church Street and School Street.**** You do not need to attend Gentle Essentrics I or II to attend Gentle Essentrics III**

Hikes - Nature Walk Series
Join Farmington Continuing Education for 6 moderately paced nature walks on wooded trails in Central and Northern CT. Appreciate nature’s tranquility and subtle gifts while still getting some exercise with the Top 6 Best Nature Walks. Enjoy 2.5 mile, hour and a half, weekly easy walks on Tuesday mornings starting at 8:45am. Any postponement due to weather will be communicated before the hike via email. Good hiking boots and water are essential, and hiking poles are recommended! List of Nature Walks Northwest Park - Brookside/Rainbow/Wetland Forest Trails, Windsor Stratton Brook Park - Blue/Orange/Red Trails, Simsbury McLean Game Refuge - Blue/Yellow Trails, Granby Burr Pond State Park - Wolcott Trail, Torrington Sessions Woods Wildlife Management Area - Beaver Pond Trail, Burlington Jones Mountain - Red Trail, New Hartford If you have any questions about the hiking program, please contact our hiking instructor, Grant Summers at gemersonsummers@gmail.com. All registrants MUST complete a Hiking Waiver BEFORE the start of the course. A link to the Hiking Waiver will be included in the "notes" of the registration confirmation, and can also be found HERE. Explore the best mountain parks and forests with expert guides on the most spectacular hiking trails year-round. Enjoy the Year-Round Hiking Club's Top 10 Best Hikes. Enjoy 5 mile, 3 hour, weekly intermediate level hikes on Thursdays at 8:45am. Hiking shoes with vibrant soles, water bottle, and hiking poles are recommended. Monthly hike details and schedule, GPS addresses, and trail maps are emailed. Custom hikes for all ability levels are available upon request. Purchase a Hiking Club Punch Card (good for 10 hikes) to pay as you go! Once purchased, Punch Cards will be mailed to registrants. Top Ten Best Hikes: Bear Mountain/Sages Ravine - Appalachian Trail, Salisbury Ragged Mountain - Blue Red Trail, Berlin Talcott Mountain State Park - Metacomet Trail to Heublein Tower, Simsbury Penwood State Park - Yellow/Metacomet/Orange Trails, Simsbury West Mountain Trails - Red/Blue Trails, West Simsbury Peoples State Forest - Agnes Bowen/Robert Ross/Jessie Gerald Trails, Barkhamsted Tunix Indian Council Caves Trail - Barkhamsted Rattlesnake Mountain Metacomet Trail - Farmington Tariffville Gorge Metacomet Trail - Tariffville Peak/Copper Mountain Metacomet Trail - East Granby Hikes are offered weekly throughout the year on Thursdays.
